      “But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming;

      The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of,

      And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”

Matthew 24:48-51

What will the world be doing when Christ comes?

      “Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded;

       But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed [them] all.

       Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.”

Luke 17:28-30

Comment- These text do not teach that it is wrong in itself to eat, drink, marry, buy, sell, plant or build, but that men’s minds will be so taken up with these things that they will give little or no thought of the future life, and make no plans or preparation to meet Jesus when He comes.

Who is it that blinds men to the gospel of Christ?

     “In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.”

2 Timothy 4:6-8

What will the waiting ones say when Jesus comes?

      “And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and [so] that day come upon you unawares.

      “For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth.

      Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

      And in the day time he was teaching in the temple; and at night he went out, and abode in the mount that is called the mount of Olives.

       And all the people came early in the morning to him in the temple, for to hear him.”
